Telangana CM Revanth to launch smart ration card distribution on Aug 15

Hyderabad, Aug 11 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will launch the distribution of smart ration cards for 3.43 crore beneficiaries in the state from Sangareddy on August 15.
Distribution programmes will be held simultaneously at district headquarters across all 33 districts.
In a statement on Tuesday, Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy said the State currently has 1,06,28,092 food security cards, covering 3.43 crore beneficiaries, with each eligible person receiving six kg of fine-quality rice free every month.
The Minister said 16,32,810 new food security cards covering 61,08,544 beneficiaries have been issued since January 26, 2025. He said smart cards would improve transparency, efficiency and convenience in the Public Distribution System.
Uttam Kumar directed officials to ensure proper arrangements for the Sangareddy event, including transportation, seating, security and transparent distribution of cards.
He also asked officials to complete preparations for programmes in all districts by August 15.
He said the government spends around Rs 14,000 crore annually on ration rice and up to Rs 20,000 crore on procuring grain from farmers, and stressed that food security for every eligible person remains the government's priority.
